Therapy for Autistic and ADHD Adults

Beginning Here

You may have spent years trying to push through

Many clients arrive feeling exhausted from constantly compensating.
You may:

  • overthink conversations long after they end
  • feel emotionally overloaded by everyday life
  • struggle to recover from stress or conflict
  • feel disconnected from your body, needs, or emotions
  • cycle through burnout repeatedly
  • appear capable externally while privately overwhelmed
  • wonder why things seem harder for you than they appear to for others

Some clients come with formal diagnoses. Others are questioning, self-identifying, or beginning to understand themselves differently later in life.
You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

A Different Perspective

A neuroaffirming approach

This work is grounded in the belief that ADHD and autism are not problems to erase.

Rather than focusing on forcing yourself to appear more “normal,” therapy may help you better understand:

    • your nervous system sensory and emotional overwhelm
    • masking and overfunctioning
    • shutdown and burnout patterns
    • boundaries and self-trust
    • the ways stress and survival responses live in the body

Many neurodivergent adults already understand themselves intellectually. The harder part is often learning how to slow down enough to notice what your system actually needs.

Mind & Body Together

Somatic therapy

Somatic therapy includes the body and nervous system as part of the therapeutic process

For many autistic and ADHD adults, stress is not only cognitive. It may show up physically through tension, fatigue, shutdown, restlessness, dissociation, hypervigilance, or chronic overwhelm.

Therapy may include gentle attention to:

  • body awareness
  • nervous system regulation
  • emotional pacing
  • grounding and safety
  • recognizing activation before overwhelm escalates

The approach is collaborative and gradual. You will not be pushed faster than your system can tolerate.

Finding the Right Fit

This work may be a good fit if

You are diagnosed, self-identifying, or questioning ADHD or autism

You feel chronically overwhelmed or burned out

You are highly sensitive to stress, conflict, or sensory input

You have felt misunderstood in past therapy

You are tired of masking or overfunctioning

You want therapy that feels gentler, slower, and more connected to the body
